You will discover the Fljótshlíd valley, Einhyrningur “finger peak” Markafljótsgljúfur’s technicolor canyon is magnificent. Waterfalls abound here and the canyon’s stratified lava/ash layer walls are remarkably striking.

Beautifully sculpted landscapes, vivid green with moss carpeting, lead through Þverárbotnar. Unbridged, grey, glacial meltwater rivers, from Myrdalsjökull glacier, are crossed before entering Mælifellssandur’s black ash deserts.
